Talk at ETSIT UPM

Very happy and honored to come back to ETSIT UPM! I was invited to share my thoughts on the data economy with students of their Master in Telecommunication Engineering tomorrow, last December 5th at 3 pm. After my PhD thesis on the topic, we had a mind-boggling session discussing the ecosystem of entities trading data over the Internet, some technical challenges of data markets, the value and the price of data, and (briefly) recent data-related regulations.

I hope I was able to emphasize the huge importance of the subject matter and to put in the minds of the students some crazy ideas and concepts that are being developed around the ongoing AI and data revolution. Not only is this topic interesting from a technical perspective, but also from economics, regulatory and policy standpoints. Thanks to the students for their active participation, it’s great to see they were interested in topics that will likely be shaping their career in the years to come.
