Intro to ICT: Closing lecture

This week we had the closing lecture for the introductory course to ICT engineering at ETSIT UPM, a warm-up primer on telecoms and the broad tech sector for first-year students.

The course included foundational concepts and topics such as engineering vs. science, innovation, digital services, the ICT sector value chain and ecosystems, basic telecom techniques, transmission media, and key telecom networks and their evolution. In the closing lecture, I was able to share my perspective on the current networking trends. The highlight was a discussion about disruptive innovations in the digital economy particularly AI, the data economy, and blockchain.

I am truly grateful for the positive feedback on the introductory course to ICT and my teaching. I received an average score of 9.5/10 from 35 participants and many supportive comments, which are highly encouraging and motivate me to maintain my efforts. I especially appreciate the students’ valuable suggestions, which will help us improve future editions of the course. Thanks for taking the time to complete the questionnaires!

It was really a pleasure to guide first-year students of BSc telecom engineering at UPM. Looking forward to meeting them again in future courses.
