Pricing Tool@BDVA

I’m thrilled to present a live demo of the data pricing tool at Big Data Value Association Activity Group 66 meeting next Wednesday 30 April 2025. This meeting will focus on the Economic, business and sustainability aspects of Data and AI and on the recently published AI Continent Action Plan and European Data Union. Many thanks to the organization for the opportunity!

Based on information stemming from my PhD research at UC3M and IMDEA Networks Institute, and partially developed within the UPCAST Project, the tool estimates the market price of a data asset based on its metadata. It is useful for data holders to get a glimpse of the value their data could reach in the market, and why, and also for consumers to estimate the cost of acquiring a data asset in the market.

With the invaluable help of ETSIT students, we are evolving the tool to update market data, optimise ML models, streamline operation processes, integrate with ongoing standards, and create an AI agent to assist data holders willing to monetise their assets and buyers looking for data in the market. Moreover, we are growing it to create a full market observatory of the data economy that gathers information not only about data products and their prices, but also about data providers, services, products, marketplaces, use cases and data categories, etc.

We hope this work will contribute to increasing the transparency of data markets, one of the aspects that is hampering their development.
