ITU Report on the Value of Data

Very happy to see our contribution to the ITU report “Economic Aspects of National Telecommunications/ICTs” finally published.

Huge thanks to Axon Partners Group and Jorge Martínez Morando for inviting me to collaborate on this work, to Emanuele Giovannetti who undertook the edition and revision of the chapter, and to IMDEA Networks and UPM that have supported my research on the field.

Our team contributed to Chapter 3, “The Economic Value of Usage of Personal Data”, which explores the unique characteristics of personal data as an economic good, reviews key research and valuation methodologies, and examines the role of data portability in promoting competition in digital platform markets. It also includes several country case studies illustrating these dynamics in practice.

Moreover, I had the opportunity to participate in an interesting workshop on the topic. Find more about my contribution on this post, and a summary of ongoing efforts in the EU to develop a secure sovereign data sharing framework on this post.
